Upper Mill Pond, the newest addition to the village at St. Elizabeth Mills in Hamilton, has broken ground. It is one of the first resort-style communities in the country.
The 46-ha (114-acre) property is home to approximately 1000 residents in life-lease garden homes, a retirement (independent and assisted living) residence, the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, and the Village Centre, a four-storey commercial/retail building.
Upper Mill Pond will add 76 suites in a mid-rise, five-storey building featuring ‘smart-living’ design which offers a health club fitness centre, indoor pool, guest suite, lounge/special events room, underground parking, storage lockers, indoor car wash area, and an outdoor terrace.
The property has nearly 8 ha (20 acre) of existing ponds, mature landscaping, and vegetation. The master plan includes the addition of walking trails, gazebos, boardwalks, and covered bridges. The suites range in size from 67 m2 to 123 m2 (716 to 1328 sf).
Construction of Upper Mill Pond is slated to begin this month.
